Methodology

CAMS radiation

Date: 29 Nov. 2017

Authors: Pr Lucien Wald, MINES ParisTech

The validation results available here under the form of two graphs aim at creating a synthesis of the results of the following publications / articles / reports:

  • Intern report Armines (2015 BSRN)
  • CAMS Irradiation Validation Service (performed on 2016-11-28)
  • Marchand et al. (2017)
  • Qu et al. (2017 BSRN)
  • Thomas et al. (2016, BSRN and Brazil)

For all stations, the data cover at least two years. The measurements have been validated following the protocol of validation described here on SoDa. Data have been qualified using the quality check procedure available here.

NB: Results are anterior to Oct. 2017, which means that CAMS radiation version is with McClear v2 + no bias correction.

Map of the relative bias for CAMS Radiation. Green circles mean a relative bias less than 3% in absolute value. Triangle size is proportional to relative bias. Upward triangle: overestimation; downward triangle: underestimation.

Map of the relative RMSE for daily mean of irradiance for CAMS Radiation. Green circles mean a relative RMSE less than 5%, i.e. daily data of moderate quality or better. Triangle size is proportional to relative RMSE.
