launch of pareo european project for photosynthetically active radiation

July 2021

July 8th, 2021 was the kick-off of the PAREO European project, standing for Photosynthetically Active Radiation and Earth Observation, for the distribution of Photosynthetically Active Radiation data for agriculture, horticulture, viticulture, and monitoring of microorganisms and algae blooms.

The Finnish Meteorological Institute, the O.I.E. Research Center from MinesParisTech, Transvalor, and Weatherquest are very pleased to take part in this project. This action has been funded by the project "Copernicus / FPCUP" of the European Union" and fits into the context of "Connect by CNES".

Many actions will be carried out within the framework of this project to derive several downstream services providing Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) data.

The purpose is to go beyond the delivery of the most adequate innovative services, but also to generate other opportunities for businesses by stimulating SMEs and start-ups in providing sustainable value-added services for their own panel of users, in Europe as well as outside Europe.

The meeting will be held in French (with a few talks in English) as a virtual workshop.

typical meteorological year for power plant sizing software

April 2021

TMY is a synthetic year of solar and meteorological parameters representative of a weather pattern.

It is created using many time series of data and contains the median, optimistic and pessimistic scenarios with the use of standard deviations.

The TMY is used in monitoring software such as PVSyst and SAM to estimate the production potential of photovoltaic and wind power plant projects.

SoDa delivers Typical Meteorological Year on-demand.

ground ALBEDO time series available for free on-demand

April 2021

The albedo data describes the capacity of the ground to reflect the sunlight. It is valued for the calculation of reflected direct and diffuse solar radiation that can reach tilted solar panels.

The albedo service provides free access to worldwide albedo maps derived from MODIS, using NASA satellites.

Also, SoDa team can deliver on-demand MODIS albedo time series over the location of your choice.

release of solar radiation book by prof. lucien wald, founder of the SoDa portal

October 2020

We would like to congratulate Prof. Lucien Wald for publishing a book providing very complete information about solar radiation.
This excellent book is relevant to read for any person interested and involved in the solar domain.

Lucien dedicated his research to meteorology, solar radiation, remote sensing, and image processing.

He is the creator of the method to estimate solar radiation data from satellite imagery and is the founder of the HelioClim solar radiation database.

He inspired the creation of the SoDa solar and meteorological services portal.

participation to agrivoltaics 2020 online 14-16 october, 2020

October 2020

Agrivoltaics 2020

We very much appreciated attending Agrivoltaics 2020 online event.
Agrivoltaism is a combination of agriculture and electricity production from solar panels on the same land.

It is relevant for the photovoltaic development and the protection of agricultural lands from drought or frost events.

It was a great opportunity to introduce our Photosynthetically Active Radiation service, delivering historical solar radiation data used by the plants to process photosynthesis.

IN SUN WE TRUST solar rooftop simulator IS NOW covering all france

July 2020

SoDa team is very happy to introduce you to In Sun We Trust solar cadastre which covers now all roofs in France. This achievement is the result of several years of work and calculation using our HelioClim-3 solar radiation database

This allows a very precise estimation of the potential production of photovoltaic panels in any rooftop, calculated from 15 years of irradiation data, and considering all the effects of local shading (of buildings, vegetation, and relief) at a resolution of 20-25 cm.

We are very proud and thankful to In Sun We Trust for their trust and collaboration, to allowed us to participate in the establishment of this French solar cadastre.
